Planning Commission to Hold Public Hearings on St. Mary’s 2050

Comprehensive Plan & Land Use Change Requests

LEONARDTOWN, MD – The St. Mary’s County Planning Commission will conduct two public hearings as part of the St. Mary’s 2050 planning process. The hearings will provide opportunities for community members to share feedback on the draft Comprehensive Plan and applicant-driven Land Use Category Change Requests.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Governor Wes Moore today signed more than 274 bills into law during the fourth and final post-session bill signing ceremony of 2026. The legislation enacted today focuses on expanding housing supply to lower costs, defending workers’ rights, and strengthening education. Among the bills signed are two landmark measures central to the administration’s housing priorities: the Maryland Housing Certainty Act and the Maryland Transit and Housing Opportunity Act.

“The 2026 legislative session proved that when we choose partnership, we can deliver real results for our people,” said Gov. Moore. “The bills we are signing today will make Maryland more affordable, protect the dignity of work, and invest in our children’s futures. During the last 10 months, the St Mary's County Republican Club has experienced a resurgence.  We have hosted 11 well attended meetings, which featured 28 speakers.  Almost all of these speakers are candidates for public office who will appear on your Republican ballot for the upcoming primary election.  We also hosted a Candidates forum last month, which offered us the opportunity to hear from the candidates once again.

The leadership of the Republican Club is positive that all attendees will vote.  However, and to be honest, this is a civic duty and is the least one can do.

11-18 June - Early voting.  Please campaign for your favorite Republican candidates at the following early voting locations; Mechanicsville Fire Dept, Hollywood Fire Dept, Bay District Fire Dept (Lexington Park).

23 June - Election Day.  Please campaign for your favorite Republican candidates at a polling place near you.

29 July - Our next Republican Club meeting will be on 29 July at 6pm at Sandgates Inn.  We will be selecting our next Republican Club officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.  Plus, we will have a special guest speaker on an issue that affects all of us.  TBA
