Recovery Minute Devotion
Thought I’d share, as it contains interesting, and relevant, information for everyone.
A Strong Tower
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
On January 25, 1934, German clergyman Martin Neimoller confronted Adolph Hitler face to face in the name of Christ. As a result, Neimoller was seized by the Gestapo and held in solitary confinement.
On the morning of his trial, he was led from his cell by a green-uniformed official. As the two men walked through eerie underground passageways, Neimoller felt overwhelming fear.
Suddenly, he heard a whispered voice: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe.” It was the guard, speaking under his breath.
With those words, Neimoller’s fear vanished. It was replaced by an indescribable peace that didn’t leave him, even during the dark days to come.
Recovery Step: Sobriety isn’t easy. If it was, everyone would do it. But remember that in the midst of pressure, you are not alone.
