Maryland condemns killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk
From the article:
The Maryland Freedom Caucus released a statement, saying, in part:
"This violent attack comes on the heels of the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump and represents yet another chilling moment in our nation's history. The radical left has fueled division and hostility on college campuses and across the country, creating an environment where political violence against conservatives is no longer unthinkable.
"Silencing conservative voices through intimidation or violence is an assault on the very foundation of our Republic. We call on the politicians and the media to stop fueling this hatred. We pray this tragedy marks the end of such hatred and that Americans of all political backgrounds can unite in rejecting violence once and for all."
The Turning Point USA chapter at the University of Maryland, College Park, posted a statement on Instagram, saying:
"We are beyond devastated by the senseless act of violence that occurred today at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Our hearts are with Charlie, his family, and everyone who was present. We ask that you join us in prayer for all those impacted."
Former Gov. Larry Hogan posted a statement, saying:
"The attack on Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk in Utah is horrific and senseless. Please join me in praying for Charlie and his family. There can be absolutely no place for political violence in America."
Brendan Hegberg, president of the Turning Point USA chapter at Towson University, said:
"I am devastated to hear about Mr. Kirk's murder today at (Utah Valley University). My thoughts and prayers go out to Charlie's family and all those close to him. He died a warrior of the Constitution, someone who never backed down from a debate, someone who honored every element of what it meant to be an American. Although I am heartbroken, his legacy will continue. We will never cower, and we will never be terrorized. We will continue his mission the way he designed."
